UK wins at Hotel Design Awards
UK hotels came out on top at the fourth European Hotel Design Awards, which took place in London last month.
Projects were submitted from 15 countries and the awards contained new elements including categories for innovation, graphic design and architectural students.
Five of the eight awards went to hotels in the UK including Cowley Manor, Gloucestershire, which took two awards for Innovation and Best Design of Refurbished Public Areas. Best New Hotel (interior design) went to the Sheraton Grand, Edinburgh, while Best New Hotel (architecture) went to the Delle Arti Design Hotel in Italy.
The Hotel Amigo in Brussels won Best Bedroom/Best Bathroom Design and the Sofitel London, won Outstanding Design Feature. Best Corporate Design went to The Savoy Group and Best Hotel Graphics went to the Park Plaza Europe. Alex Jones of the University of Westminster won the Reardon Smith Student Award for Hotel Architecture.
