UN members back London 2012 agreement
All 193 members of the United Nations (UN) have supported an agreement that will see the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games used to promote peace around the world.
Each of the states have co-sponsored the Olympic Truce Resolution, which is believed to be the highest number of countries to do so since the UN was founded after World War Two.
The London Organising Committee of the 2012 Games (LOCOG) and the government will now work with the International Olympic Committee to deliver truce-related activities.
LOCOG chair Sebastian Coe said "The Olympic Truce and the Olympic values and the programmes that support the Truce can play a role, in combination with the Olympic movement and sport in general, as tools for promoting peace."
