US$24m Temecula waterpark given fundraising extension
The US$24m Splash Canyon waterpark planned for Temecula, California, is under threat as the developer is struggling to raise the funds.
However, Temecula City Council has approved a six month extension of the deadline to secure the money on account of the credit market.
However, the council is confident that the developers, Clearwater Waterpark Development, will be able to secure a loan. The council’s Mike Naggar, told the North County Times: “I’m still hoping they are going to break ground month and I’m very confident that they will be able to pull it off.”
The waterpark was designed by the Canadian firm Whitewater West and features a wave pool, a pirate cove, a lazy river, a rain fortress, a Boomerango ride and various food outlets.
Splash Canyon is expected to open next year.
