US$300m resort at Lake Tahoe
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is set to develop a 173-bedroom resort on Northstar Mountain in Lake Tahoe, California, US.
The US$300m (£172m, 248m euro) Ritz-Carlton Highlands Lake Tahoe will feature a 20,000sq ft (1,900sq m) spa with a private pool and spa tubs as well as 16 treatment rooms.
A ski lift will link the new Ritz-Carlton resort with the Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort to encourage guests to respect the environment by using the park and ride facility.
Design team Hornberger & Worstell and Brayton Hughes will use native granite stone, recycled steel and timber from the Sierra Tahoe region in the construction of the resort.
Work is expected to begin in summer 2007, with a late 2009 opening.
Ritz-Carlton currently operates 61 hotels and more than 20 projects are under development. Details: www.ritzcarlton.com
