Ventnor Winter Gardens plans unveiled
Michelin-starred chef Robert Thompson has unveiled plans for a major overhaul of Ventnor Winter Gardens, Isle of Wight, after being named preferred bidder for the property.
Thompson - through his Hambrough Group vehicle - is proposing a multi-million pound makeover for the historic seafront property, which will establish a modern entertainment venue. The refurbished Ventnor Winter Gardens will be able to stage live performances and cinema screenings, while also offering conference and meeting space and hotel accommodation.
Plans have been drawn up by the Manser Practice and will also feature two dining venues - one brasserie and a first-floor fine dining eatery. It is hoped work could start next year. Thompson said: "We look forward to sharing more about our proposals with the local community - and hearing community views - in the months ahead."
Hambrough Group was selected by the Isle of Wight Council as its preferred bidder to lead the redevelopment of the site.
