BHA Member the Victory Services Club (VSC) is celebrating after being ‘Highly Commended’ at the Best Places to Work in Hospitality Awards 2008.

The winners were announced at a glittering awards ceremony held in the Prince Consort Rooms at the Honourable Artillery Company on Monday 18th February.

Regarded as one of the most worthwhile awards of the industry, ‘Best Places to work in Hospitality’ recognises all that’s best about working in the sector.

Jane Sunley, a member of the judging panel and Managing Director of LearnPurple and Talent Toolbox explained, "The panel decided to award the Victory Services Club with the honour of Highly Commended, rather than just Commended as they really are fantastic – they deserve more than just a commendation."

The VSC was presented the award for their passionate commitment to training and developing as well as recognising and rewarding positive behaviour with regular employee awards, benefits and promotions*. With an annual training programme including NVQ Training, management foundation courses and personal mentoring, it is no surprise that 86% of staff are satisfied with their job at the Club.**

Mark Lewis, editor of Caterer and Hotelkeeper, who presented the award said, "This members club for the Armed Forces has been honoured for the second year in recognition for their outstanding efforts to train, motivate and retain their employees. It certainly punches above its weight when it comes to employee benefits and is an inspiration to others in this sector."

Club Secretary, Roy Lennox added, “It’s a great achievement to be recognised within the hospitality industry alongside Dorchester, Four Seasons, Malmaison Hotel du Vin, Intercontinental Hotel Group. By consistently recruiting and developing the right staff, we can deliver the best quality and service to our members and guests”.
