Vinotherapy spa launches at Marques de Riscal
A new wine therapy spa has opened as part of the Marqués de Riscal hotel development in the town of Elciego within the northern Rioja region of Spain.
The development – which cost an estimated US$88m (£46.3m, 69.2m euro) – took eight years to build and has been designed by architect Frank Gehry. The design includes pink, gold and silver titanium ‘ribbons’ to shade the hotel’s sandstone exterior.
The Spa Vinotherapie Caudalie Espana covers 1,300sq m (14,000sq ft) and boasts 14 treatment cabins.
Other spa facilities include a swimming pool, a hammam, a whirlpool, two relaxation areas and a herbal tea zone.
Therapies have been inspired by both eastern and western philosophies.
The spa was created by Yves Collet of Caudalie France.
Situated in the Basque region of Spain, the new Marqués de Riscal development also includes an exhibition area, wine-tasting rooms and a restaurant. Details: www.marquesderiscal.com
