Vinotherapy spa opens in Madeira
A vinotherapy-based spa has opened at The Vine Hotel on the island of Madeira, Portugal.
Located above the cobbled old quarters of the city of Funchal, The Hotel Vine has 57 hotel bedrooms as well as a large spa.
The 1m euro (£889,690, US$1.25m) spa features TheraVine-branded vinotherapy treatments and products. Originating in South Africa, TheraVine was developed in the wine region of Stellenbosch and especially uses the Pinotage grape – a hybrid variety first developed in 1925 between Pinot Noir and Hermitage grapes.
Additional wellness facilities include a number of treatment rooms, a panoramic rooftop swimming pool and a large whirlpool.
A member of the Design Hotels network, The Vine’s design aesthetic has been themed around the idea of good wine and grapes and has used a bold colour palette. Masterminded by Catalonian architect Ricardo Bofill, interiors have been created by Funchal-born designer Nini Andrade Silva.
Guestrooms are on four floors and the building offers courtyard spaces for relaxation. Details: designhotels.com
