Virgin Atlantic delays A380 order
Virgin Atlantic (VA) will not be among the launch customers for the ‘superjumbo’ Airbus A380.
It has pushed its order timetable back by 18 months due to concerns that the airports VA flies to would not be able to meet the requirements of the new planes.
The first A380 flight is currently due to take place in early 2005 while its entry into service will follow in the second quarter of 2006.
There are currently firm orders for 129 aircraft from 11 customers – including Singapore Airlines, who will be the recipients of the first aircraft delivery.
