VisitBritain promotes UK to Russians
VisitBritain is to target potential Russian investors and visitors at the 7th Annual Russian Economic Forum in London next week.
The conference, taking place at the QEII Centre on 18-20 April, brings together Russian and international CEOs and political leaders.
“Britain is an increasingly popular destination for Russian travellers,” said Jeremy Brinkworth, head of business tourism for VisitBritain.
“The Russian Economic Forum is a high profile opportunity for VisitBritain to raise awareness among Russia’s business elite of the experiences to be enjoyed here in Britain. It is particularly important as business visitors often bring their partners or families with them and want to enjoy leisure pursuits as well.”
In 2002, Britain welcomed 117,000 Russian visitors – a rise of 8 per cent – who spent more than £122m here.
On average, Russians stay in the UK for 12 nights, with 60 per cent choosing to stay in London.
VisitBritain actively increased its marketing activity in Russia last year and now has a dedicated specialist for the Russian market working out of its Central Europe regional office.
The organisation also launched a Russian language version of its website. Details: www.visitbritain.com
