VisitScotland event to generate £20m boost
The Scottish tourism industry is expected to receive a boost worth more than £20m through VisitScotland's flagship trade show, which is taking place this week (25 and 26 April).
VisitScotland expo 2012 is welcoming nearly 250 Scottish businesses - such as attractions, activity providers and hospitality firms - and more than 700 buyers from around the world.
More than 5,000 appointments between buyers and exhibitors are expected to take place at this year's event, with feedback suggesting £22.1m worth of business will be carried out.
Expo 2012 is targeting key international tourism markets including the US and Germany, as well as growth markets such as Nigeria, India, Russia, China and Brazil.
Tourism minister Fergus Ewing said: "Scotland's tourism industry makes a substantial contribution to our economy and it has shown great resilience in the global economic climate during 2011."
