Vivanta by Taj reopens Sri Lanka resort
Vivanta by Taj has reopened its Bentota resort in Sri Lanka following an US$12.5m (9.5m euro, £8m) redevelopment of the property.
The resort's new look, by Malaysia-based interior designer Nic Proud, has been described as a "blend of contemporary style with colonial charm".
The centrepiece of the redesigned resort is the 7,500sq ft (700sq m) Jiva Spa, which houses six treatment rooms.
Located adjacent to the main resort, the free-standing, self-contained spa's ethos is to celebrate ancient Indian wellness traditions and ayurveda.
The spa's design also pays homage to Sri Lanka's heritage with open verandahs wrapped around a central courtyard dotted with sacred temple trees and a reflecting pool.
Each treatment room has its own outdoor spa pool and other facilities include a laconium.
The spa menu features a number of tradition rejuvenation therapies ranging from Indian aromatherapy massages, body scrubs and wraps, ayurveda. Yoga and meditation classes are also available.
