Vue Entertainment takes over Cinema de Luxe sites
Big screen operator Vue Entertainment has partnered with Westfield Group to operate two multiplex cinemas.
A Vue cinema will replace US-based Cinema de Luxe, run by National Amusements, at the new £1.7bn Westfield London centre in Shepherds Bush after the operator reportedly suffered tough trading in the US. Cinema de Luxe currently operates sites in Leicester and Bristol. The London site will have 14 screens, 3,000 seats and will include wall-to-wall screens able to show movies in a 3D format. The cinema is expected to be opened in the second half of 2009.
Westfield's £1.45bn Stratford City project, the second site to be occupied by Vue, will comprise 12 screens and 2,750 seats. The development is expected to be open in March 2011 and is located adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in East London.
