WPS suspends 2012 season over legal dispute
US-based Women's Professional Soccer (WPS), one of the few professional competitions for women's football, has announced that it has suspended the 2012 season.
The board of governors took the decision in order to concentrate on resolving pending legal issues and challenges relating to a dispute with the competition's former owner.
WPS chief executive officer Jennifer O'Sullivan said: "[The decision] is necessary to take the time to address current issues and solidify our business."
