Wakefield Council backs new pitch strategy
Members of Wakefield Council's cabinet have backed a new playing pitch strategy for the district, which aims to ensure communities have access to "high quality" sports facilities.
The document offers a framework to help the local authority better understand the quantity and quality of pitches already available, while planning for future provision of new facilities.
Wakefield Council cabinet member for sport and culture David Dagger said: "Playing pitches and outdoor facilities can play an important role in helping our communities stay healthy.
"We are trying to ensure that the future provision of playing pitches in Wakefield meets local demand and that communities continue to have access to good quality multi-use outdoor sports facilities."
