Wakefield Council backs £5m youth plan
A Wakefield leisure centre could be transformed into a youth club after the local authority agreed to work with two groups on a government funding bid to the My Place initiative.
Wakefield Council backed plans to develop an application for a £5m investment in the conversion of the Lightwaves Leisure Centre, in partnership with the Next Generation and Chrysalis organisations. A funding bid is expected to be submitted by March 2009, and it is hoped that a new youth facility will offer a programme of positive and varied activities for local young people.
