Walkie-talkie tower plans approved
Property firm Land Securities has had the plans for its proposed 525ft (160m) tall skyscraper at 20 Fenchurch Street in Central London approved by the City of London Planning Committee.
The 37-storey tower, known as the ‘Walkie-talkie’, will predominantly feature office and retail space but the key feature of the building, designed by Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly, is the public sky garden.
The garden will offer visitors a panoramic view of the city and feature a restaurant and café.
The company said that once full approval is granted, it will seek to pre-let part of the building before beginning the construction process. Details: www.landsecurities.co.uk
