Wantage Leisure Centre Zumbathon
On Saturday 18th February Wantage Leisure Centre ran their 2nd Zumbathon event where local Zumba users were invited to take part in a 3 hour Zumbathon session with donations taken for the charity Silver Star Maternity Unit in the JR Oxford.
The event was well attended with 120 local people taking part and donating a total of £750 to the local maternity unit. The event also offered children the opportunity to take part in arts and crafts sessions including Jewellery making and pottery.
Kevin Williams, General Manager of Wantage Leisure Centre said "It was a great event with a fun and friendly atmosphere. The two instructors, Kelly Hudson and Angela Burt, deserve a lot of credit as they put together a fun session which has helped more people become more active in the Wantage area."
Doreen Legge who completed the three hour Zumbathon said "There was a great atmosphere in the centre. The staff put on a great local event with lots of people taking part, even the children took part throughout the day. The instructors did a great job."
Wantage Leisure Centre, which is run by Soll Leisure on behalf of The Vale of the White Horse District Council, is planning similar events throughout the year including Sport Relief Mile and the Swimathon, whilst working closely with Wantage Town Council to deliver the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Wantage and Grove.
