Waterside award winners announced
The six winners of the Waterscape.com Waterside Business Awards 2004 have been announced.
The River Canal Rescue in Stafford won the most innovative waterway business while the Weighbridge in Alverchurch took the best waterside pub award ahead of the Trout Inn in Oxford.
Lock Stock Bistro near Rugby was voted the best waterside restaurant and The Falkirk Wheel beat competition from two Manchester attractions – the Lowry Museum and the Imperial War Museum North – to take the best leisure attraction title.
Simon Parker, managing director of Waterscape.com, said: “We are delighted with the number of people who voted as the awards help recognise the role of waterside business in attracting new people to the waterways – from pubs, restaurants and shops to museums, boat hire companies and sailing schools.”
Overall, 1,300 public votes were cast between 29 May and 1 September.
