Fusion Lifestyle, in partnership with Lewisham Council, has approved plans to carry out an extensive renovation of Wavelengths Leisure Centre.

Work has started on the exciting redevelopment project, which will transform this popular local facility into a modern, purpose built health and fitness leisure centre.

Customers will see improvements begin in a phased process, including the construction of a brand new state of the art fitness suite, group exercise studios and café, due to open in January 2013.

Following this work, construction on a brand new health suite with sauna and steam room, additional group exercise studio and a soft play zone for children will begin for launch in March 2013.

Essential enhancements to the leisure pool and flume will also be undertaken during this period.

Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham, says: "Lewisham communities deserve first class leisure facilities and we are delivering this all across the borough. The work now beginning at Wavelengths will give local people fantastic opportunities in sport and leisure right on their doorstep."

Tim Mills, Fusion's Business Development Director, says: "Having recently been voted the Health Club of the Year in South London, this plan represents a commitment to redevelop the centre to ensure it caters for the increasing demands of our customers."

"We are delighted that the scheme has been approved and look forward to work getting underway. We have been planning this project for some time and the investment we are making shows our commitment to the provision of modern leisure facilities for Lewisham residents."

The renovations are due for completion in March 2013.

Fusion Lifestyle, an experienced sport and leisure management organisation, works in partnership with Lewisham Council to bring you sport and leisure facilities across Lewisham. As a registered charity, Fusion continually reinvests to improve the sport and leisure offering in the local community.

Memberships for the leisure centre are on sale now, with great offers available including no joining fee and three months free for a limited period.
