We Can! scheme for US
The US National Institutes of Health and the Association of Children’s Museums are teaming up on a programme to combat the obesity epidemic among America’s children.
The programme, We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition), is an educational programme designed to help children aged eight to 13 years maintain a healthy weight.
The initiative was launched on 29 November 2007 in Boston, Las Vegas and Pittsburgh and will be rolled out to more than 450 communities in 44 states.
In addition to the Association of Children’s Museums, 40 national and corporate partners are starting We Can! programmes in community centres, schools, healthcare settings, corporate wellness programmes and faith-based organisations.
