Wellington school development will benefit fencing and volleyball
Wellington school in Somerset has opened a facility to provide a training centre for future Olympians.
The Princess Royal Sports Complex was designed by former pupil, John Moore, of IDASS and the £2.6m cost was raised by the school itself, after being refused money from Sport England and the National Lottery.
The centre's main hall can hold three international volleyball matches and eight cricket nets. The fencing salle can hold two international matches concurrently and other facilities include a gym, training classroom and a sports science lab.
British Handball has moved its headquarters to the complex which is being used as a training centre for the Regional Pentathlon Association. Details: +44 (0)1753 642961
