Wellness and gym concept to roll out across India
The Talwalkars chain of health centres has joined with The Future Group to form a joint venture company, Talwalkars Pantaloon Fitness, to roll out a new wellness concept called Talwalkars Fit & Active across India.
Each centre offers a combination of health spa, wellness and gym services and will be located within shopping malls. There will also be dieticians, nutritionists, physiotherapists and weight-loss trainers available.
The inaugural centre launched at the Future Group’s Orchid City Center mall in central Mumbai and is averaging 500 customers a month.
Following the success of the Mumbai property, there are now plans to launch 50 centres over the next three years in shopping malls across India.
CEO of the Future Group, Kishore Biyani, said: “Increasingly, Indian consumers are becoming very conscious about their health and fitness.
Preventative health services and wellness programmes now attract a significant part of the consumer’s expenditure.”
