Wembley chief expected to go
Press speculation suggests that the board of Wembley National Stadium (WNS) is considering the termination of Bob Stubbs' contract as chief executive. Stubbs has encountered difficulty raising the required levels of corporate investment for the £400m project, and has been criticised for the failure of the company's efforts to date. Stubbs is currently on sick leave, and a decision is expected within the next week, in time for the publication of government trouble-shooter Patrick Carter's report into the stadium, which is expected to recommend a scaling down of the proposal.
