Wembley forced to change auditor as court case looms
Accountancy firm Ernst & Young (E&Y) has resigned as the auditor to troubled UK-based racetrack and gaming operator Wembley.
The resignation comes just weeks before Wembley goes on trial in the US after allegedly using bribes to gain new licences for lottery terminals at its Rhode Island-based subsidiary, Lincoln Park.
Wembley insists it is innocent of any wrongdoing and said in a statement that the board “remains firmly of the view that the allegations are without foundation and they will be vigorously defended at the trial.”
E&Y will be replaced by KMPG, which was auditor to the Wembley Group for years prior to the appointment of E&Y.
