West Chanctonbury Recreation Association to work in partnership with Impulse Leisure
West Chanctonbury Recreation Association (WCRA), a charitable organisation responsible for the management and operation of Chanctonbury Sports & Leisure in Spierbridge Road, Storrington, are all set to become the latest subsidiary of Impulse Leisure, with effect from 6th June 2011.
Impulse Leisure, currently successfully operates a multitude of leisure sites across West Sussex and Essex. These facilities comprise activities such as swimming, golf, fitness, racquet sports, health & beauty and entertainment. Since January 2010 they have been providing a full sales service to WCRA with fantastic results.
The new partnership arrangements will now see this support extended to other areas of the operation including an ambitious project to re-energise the health and fitness provision. Impulse Leisure will also provide extended management support for the in-house team in areas including Finance, Payroll, Human Resources, day to day operations, activity programming, Marketing and Catering.
Established in January 2000, Impulse Leisure is a non-profit-distributing organisation providing central services to local Charities. Their primary objectives are to create active and healthy communities; this is achieved by the reinvestment of any surpluses made within each Charitable subsidiary.
This hugely successful model has seen Impulse Leisure invest over 7 million pounds into new facilities and equipment across the sites in Thurrock Council and Adur District.
Impulse Leisure Chief Executive, Mike Baden, says: "Impulse Leisure is delighted to formalise our partnership with WCRA. We look forward to a successful relationship with the shared aim of developing and improving the leisure and recreation facilities for the inhabitants of Storrington and the surrounding parishes."
Chanctonbury Leisure Centre was opened in 1989 and benefitted from an extension in 2004 thanks to funding from Sport England, Horsham District Council and a number of local donors. The current facility comprises two sports halls, a floodlit all-weather Multi-Use-Games-Area, a 40 station gym and a cafeteria.
John Seymour, Chairman of WCRA, stated that one of their key aims was to provide the local community with the broadest possible range of health and fitness facilities, and to this end had researched the market for quality professional expertise. He says: "WCRA are extremely happy to become a charitable subsidiary of the Impulse Leisure Group. We are confident that their contribution to the management and development of our facilities will ensure this goal is achieved."
