Westfield London, a £1.6bn mixed-use development opens today in Shepherd's Bush, London.

The retail-led development, designed by US architect Michael Gabellini on behalf of Australian-based developers Westfield Group, features nearly 50 restaurants serving 25 types of international cuisine.

The building spans 200,000sq ft across three-floors and includes three restaurant areas – the Southern Terrace, the Balcony, and the Loft – an interior events space, called The Atrium, and a 14-screen cinema run by National Amusements. There is also a gym with a health spa and two floors of retail units.

Westfield boasts two new restaurant brands and three which are making their debut in the UK including vietnamese restaurant Pho and Ito, a new fast-food healthy eating concept launched by restaurateur Tom Etridge.

Tony Kitous is also introducing his new casual middle eastern restaurant Comptoir Libanais and Michelin-starred chefs Pascal Aussignac and Vincent Labeyrie, of Club Gascon, have opened Croque Gascon.

Other restaurants include swiss vegetarian group Tibits, a dim sum restaurant operated by Atame and Shanghai Blues called Bamboo Basket and the second Wahaca outlet launched by BBC Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers. There will also be chains including Yo! Sushi, Wagamama, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Nandos and Pizza Express.

Westfield Group managing director, Steven Lowy said: “Westfield London will draw on our global and local experience of creating unique retail and lifestyle offerings. It will provide a customer lifestyle experience, combining entertainment, dining, and leisure opportunities with guest hospitality: valet parking, porters, personal shopping and more.”
