Westminster City Council outlines plans for new £18m leisure centre
Westminster City Council (WCC) has outlined its proposals for a new £18m leisure centre in Queen's Park, London, as part of an ongoing programme to upgrade local facilities.
The development, which will be funded at no cost to local taxpayers, will involve the merger of the existing Moberly and Jubilee sites to provide one single, larger centre at Moberly.
A 20-month overhaul of Moberly Sport and Leisure Centre - subject to planning approval - will lead to the creation of the new venue, which is scheduled to open in 2014.
Facilities will include an eight-court sports hall; a swimming pool; a learner pool; a health and fitness suite; and exercise and dance studios, as well as a boxing hall.
WCC has recently held consultation events and is inviting feedback until the end of May, before analysing the results and hosting follow up consultation events take place in June.
