Wigan's £217m Life Centre project complete
The official opening of Wigan's new multi-million pound public services hub has signalled the completion of the town's £217m Life Centre development, which occupies two 'sites'.
Wigan Council has appointed Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust to manage both parts of the complex, which saw the launch of the Healthy Living Zone leisure complex last September.
The leisure element includes a 25m x 21m pool with moveable floor; a 13m x 7.5m learner pool; and a 60-station Profiles Health and Fitness Centre fitted by Technogym.
A steam/sauna room and fitness studios also forms part of the Healthy Living Zone, while the Information, Learning and Neighbourhood Zone is the latest component to open.
Wigan Council cabinet champion for customer services Chris Ready said: "The Life Centre represents a massive investment for our borough and also a massive investment in our residents."
