Wiggly attraction for Dreamworld
Dreamworld theme park on Australia's Gold Coast has entered into a licensing agreement with Wiggles, the children's entertainment brand, to make Dreamworld the official Australian home of The Wiggles theme park attraction.
Official plans for the park, to be called Wiggles World, are being kept under wraps until later in the year, but are believed to involve the redevelopment of an existing area within the park.
The attraction will feature the four Wiggles – Anthony, Murray, Greg and Jeff – as well as Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword.
The new attraction will add to the park’s existing branded attractions, which include Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants and The Rugrats.
Dreamworld chief executive officer, Stephen Gregg, said the popularity of the Wiggles in international markets, particularly the UK and USA, will provide a great opportunity for tourism on the Gold Coast.
“The wiggles communicate to children on their level and that’s why they are so successful," he said.
"Wiggles World will have a total focus on this whole new market segment creating a safe, fun learning environment.”
The Wiggles are one of Australia’s most successful children’s entertainers, earning a reported AUS$45m (27m Euros, US$35m, £18m) in 2004. Details: +61 7 5588 1127
