Windrush picks up national award
Witney’s Windrush Leisure has been identified as one of the top performing leisure centres in the UK by the National Benchmarking Service (NBS).
The centre gained Excellence in Access recognition from the NBS, which measured its appeal to customers of all ages.
The centre was surveyed on a number of factors including feedback from users and the facility’s financial performance. The information is used to encourage high standards across the leisure industry.
A partnership arrangement between Sport England, PMP, Ipsos-MORI and Sheffield Hallam University, the NBS provides local authorities with information on the performance of their facilities compared with others across the country.
The site has been operated by Wycombe Leisure, on behalf of Oxfordshire District Council since 2001. The NBS recognition has now helped the trust secure the contract to continue running the council’s leisure facilities for the next 10 years, after an extensive tendering process.
As part of the new contract, both the trust and the council will invest further in leisure facilities, and will improve the energy efficiency of all the council’s centres.
