Wisconsin resort and waterpark close to completion
The Great Lakes Companies has begun preview tours of its latest development in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, USA – the Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center.
Opening in June 2004, the $54m four-storey, 300,000sq ft Victorian-styled beach resort will feature a 40,000sq ft indoor waterpark, 183 family suites, two nautical-themed restaurants, a 5,000sq ft arcade, gift shop, Aveda spa and fitness centre, plus a 29,000sq ft conference centre and fine dining facility.
The Breaker Bay waterpark will feature four pools, seven waterslides, a giant whirlpool, and a $1m interactive Lighthouse Waterfort, served by 200,000 gallons of heated water. A tipping ship will dump up to 1,000 gallons of water on guests.
The Great Lakes Companies currently owns and operates 14 hotels and resorts throughout the US. It has gained international recognition for its indoor waterpark developments with their Great Wolf Lodge and Great Bear Lodge resorts.
A fifth Great Wolf Lodge Resort is under construction in Williamsburg, VA, and Great Lakes and is about to break ground on a new project in Poconos, PA. Details: www.blueharborresort.com
