Work begins on Hillsborough gym expansion
Work has started on a major expansion of the Fitness Unlimited health club at Hillsborough Leisure Centre, Sheffield.
Operated by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), the redevelopment of the gym is part of the company's "sustainable self-financing" programme and will result in a six-figure sum being invested in the fitness club.
As part of the works, the number of cv and resistance stations will be increased from 50 to 85 pieces while the capacity of gym classes will be pushed up to 100.
The project will be finished by early March.
Lorenzo Clark, director of operations for SIV, said: "Hillsborough Leisure Centre has always been a hugely popular facility and this investment is part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a sustainable venue.
"The equipment we are introducing is the very latest Technogym models, the kind used by Team GB athletes at the London Olympics, and we hope the changes being made at Hillsborough will encourage even more people to get involved with physical activity."
