Work begins on extreme sports centre in Aberdeen
The charity Transition Extreme has announced that work has started on a £2.7m extreme sports recreation project at Queens Links in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The non profit-making community extreme sports centre will comprise a climbing and adventure centre, an indoor skateboard/BMX park and a two-on-two street ball basketball court.
The centre will also provide two band practice studios with a plug in and play facility, a video pod to profile the outdoor/extreme sports opportunities, training facilities, three extreme sports retail units, a visitor centre and an Energy cafe.
In addition, a children’s recreation area will include pool tables, video and internet rooms and a chillout area featuring DJ equipment.
The project was designed by local contractor MTM Construction in conjunction with local skateboarders and BMX riders. Transition Extreme expects to open the centre in March 2007. Details: www.transition-extreme.com
