Work starts on £32m Buxton spa
Ground investigation for the £32m (41.4m euro, US$55.6m) Buxton Crescent Hotel and Thermal Spa in Derbyshire, UK, has begun.
Geotechnical and hydrological testing will be carried out over the next four months to see whether the project can progress to the detailed design and construction stages.
High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council are working in partnership with Nestlé, which owns Buxton Water, project developer Trevor Osborne Property Group and CP Holdings.
The project has been part-funded through a Heritage Lottery Fund grant worth £12.5m (16.1m euro, US$21.7m).
European spa hotel operator Danubius Hotels will manage the hotel and spa once it is completed. Details: highpeak.gov.uk
