Work starts on Cambuslang Park overhaul
South Lanarkshire Council (SLC) has started work on a major revamp of Cambuslang Park, which is expected to take around five months to complete.
More than £1m has already been raised towards the cost of the project, with both the council and the Heritage Lottery Fund providing more than £500,000. Work will include improvements to the play area, pond area, amphitheatre and woodlands, while an outdoor gym is to be created with £18,000 of Viridor funding.
The Naked Heart Foundation has also provided £50,000 towards the construction of the play area, while a full-time park keeper will also be appointed. SLC's Chris Thompson said: "The improvements are a testament to the hard work over several years of the local community working closely with the council and the Changing Places community regeneration partnership."
