Work starts on Lichfield recreation area
Lichfield District Council (LDC) and developer Taylor Wimpey have commenced construction work on a new recreation area at Sainte Foy Avenue.
A new play area and an exercise hub for local residents are to be created as part of the scheme, which has been boosted by £28,000 worth of funding through a section 106 agreement. Green space at the Sainte Foy Avenue will feature a multi-use games area, which will be capable of accommodating football, basketball and volleyball, as well as an outdoor gym.
A skateboard ramp, a running loop and a small cycle track will be created, while landscaping work will also be carried out on the surrounding area. LDC cabinet member for development services Neil Roberts said: "Having a recreation area will allow people to come together, helping to create a sense of community, and we are all pleased that local residents will soon have somewhere close by to play, get fit and meet up with friends."
