Work starts on new American Railroad museum
Work has started on the initial construction phase at the new 12.34-acre (4.99-hectare) site for The Museum of the American Railroad in Frisco, Texas, US.
The first stage will feature extensive grading and site preparation, as well as the installation of nearly 1 mile (1.6km) of track at the attraction's new location south of Frisco Square. Venus Construction Company of Mansfield has been appointed as the prime contractor on the initial phase, while Trac-Work will carry out the railway track construction.
Arlington-based Lunsford Associates provided engineering services for the project, which is designed to enable the museum to showcase its 40-piece locomotive and car collection. Museum chief executive officer Bob LaPrelle said: "While our capital funding campaign continues, we now have sufficient funds on hand to begin construction.
"This important benchmark enables the museum and its stakeholders to establish a true physical presence in Frisco and seek support for the next phase of work."
