Work starts on new Ilfracombe skate park
North Devon Council (NDC) has announced that work has started on the transformation of a former Ilfracombe BMX facility into a new skate park.
Hampshire-based Gravity Engineering has been appointed to deliver the £156,000 council-led scheme at the Larkstone site, which is being carried out in partnership with the Concrete Surfers Federation. Work will include the installation of a concrete surface to ensure it will be multi-use and available to skateboarders, roller bladers and BMX bike riders. The scheme is due to take 10 weeks to complete.
NDC lead member for community and leisure Dick Jones said: "It is fantastic to see work beginning on the new facility. A lot of local people have worked really hard to get to today and they should be very proud of their efforts."
