Work starts on new North Holmwood pavilion
Construction work is underway on a new community sports pavilion at the King George V Playing Field in North Holmwood, Surrey, which will support a football development plan in the local area.
Mole Valley District Council (MVDC), North Holmwood Football Club (NHFC), Surrey Football Association and the local community are working in partnership to deliver the building, which is due for completion by August. Facilities will include two team changing rooms, two officials' changing rooms, a kitchen and servery and storage space for equipment, as well as ground source heat pumps as part of efforts to reduce the building's carbon footprint.
MVDC portfolio holder for community and youth, Janette Purkiss, said: "This pavilion will provide a much needed facility for the communities of Goodwyns, Chart Downs and North Holmwood, and should encourage participation in sport and outdoor recreation on this important playing field." The new football development plan, which is being implemented by NHFC, MVDC and Surrey Football Association, outlines the development of the club to provide the local community with an opportunity to participate in the sport in a safe environment.
