Work starts on new Worcester cycle route
Worcestershire County Council (WCC) has announced that work has started on the latest section of walking and cycling paths to be created as part of the Sustrans Connect2 scheme.
The 720m (2,362ft) section in Worcester - between Waverley Street and the new Diglis bridge - is designed to improve links around the city, and is set to feature an all-weather surface installed by Dean Martin Contractors. WCC cabinet member for transport and safe environment Derek Prodger said: "These works will provide greater accessibility for walkers and cyclists, and so help reduce traffic congestion within the city by providing residents with safe and sustainable travel choices.
"The new Diglis bridge and additional links will increase freedom of movement around Worcester and will improve quality of life through cost savings, reduced congestion and improved health."
