Work starts on £6.3m Bridgwater pool
Sedgemoor District Council (SDC) has announced that work is now underway on a £6.3m swimming pool, which will form part of Bridgwater's Trinity Sports and Leisure Centre.
The local authority is working with Somerset County Council; BAM; Futures for Somerset; and leisure trust 1610 on the scheme, which follows the opening of dry facilities last month.
A 25m, six-lane swimming pool; a training pool; and changing rooms are being built as part of the latest Scott Brownrigg Architects-designed phase of work, which will be completed in spring 2013.
Tim Nightingale, chief executive of 1610, said: "Once the pool is opened in 2013, Bridgwater will have one of the best leisure facilities in the region."
Dry facilities unveiled at Trinity Sports and Leisure Centre last month include a sports hall capable of hosting a number of sports, as well as a 50-station Technogym-equipped gym.
