Work to begin on Great Dubai Wheel
Construction work is set to begin shortly on the Great Dubai Wheel project in Dubai following Dubai Municipality approval of the attraction’s masterplan.
The 185m (600ft) observation wheel will be one of the landmark tourist attractions at the US$5bn (£2.6bn, 3.9bn euro) multi-use leisure and entertainment Dubailand development.
The wheel will be built by the Great Wheel Corporation and is scheduled to open to visitors in 2009.
Speaking to DubaiCityGuide.com, Salem bin Dasmal, CEO of Dubailand, said: “I am confident that the Great Dubai Wheel will add a unique architectural landmark to the Dubai skyline and enhance the Dubailand experience.”
Dubailand will cover 3bn sq ft (0.27bn sq m) and is anticipated to attract millions of visitors a year. Details: www.dubailand.ae
