An Eastwood car park in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has been closed ahead of the start of construction work is to start on a new multi-million pound youth facility.

The car park - adjacent to the Cat and Cabbage pub on St Ann's Road - is the site of the development, which has secured nearly £3.5m as part of the government's myplace initiative. Chantry YMCA is leading the new-build scheme, which will offer facilities for people aged between 11-19 years old, including an IT suite; a graffiti art room; a cinema and a performance hall.

A rooftop café is also among the proposals for the centre, which aims to focus on social enterprise and recreational activities, in addition to providing a range of public health services. Wildgoose Construction has been appointed to build the venue.
