Work underway on £5m Nelson ACE Centre
The foundation stone for a new £5m arts and culture complex in Nelson – in the borough of Pendle in Lancashire – has been laid.
The four-storey Arts, Culture and Enterprise (ACE) Centre will feature a 200-seat performance space, a café/bar, a recording studio, function rooms and display space.
The mayor of Pendle, Allan Buck, laid the foundation stone. “I am so happy that during my first year in office this fantastic facility is coming to fruition,” he said. “It is without doubt one of the most significant developments in Pendle for many years.”
“Nelson will soon have a wonderful arts and entertainment centre at its heart.”
Funding is coming from Pendle Enterprise and Regneration Limited, Pendle Partnership – the area’s Local Strategic Partnership – and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
The ACE Centre is scheduled to open in summer 2009.
