Worker dies at Finnish theme park
A 24-year-old member of staff has died at the Power Park attraction in Ala-Härmä, Finland.
The female ride operator – who had joined the park in April – was struck by the park’s pendulum swing ride called Typhoon while trying to clear the shoes left on the platform by riders.
Mikko Kiviluoma, managing director of Power Park, told Iltalehti that the accident was witnessed by a number of people, and that one rider was slightly injured when the disc hit the member of staff.
He said: “The ride operator had started the ride and then noticed that a previous guest had left his shoes on the platform underneath the ride.
“I’m not sure why she decided to go and try and get them while the ride was in full swing.”
The worker was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
