World class exhibition space for Sydney
Sydney’s Darling Harbour is set to get a AUS$1bn development, with exhibition space and hotels it has been revealed.
Doubling the size of the existing centre, the 40,000sq m convention centre will represent Australia’s largest exhibition space. The Sydney Entertainment Centre will be replaced with an 8,000 seat venue.
The adjacent land will also be developed into a 900-room hotel, 1,400 residential apartments, 23,000sq m of student accommodation, 7,000sq m of retail, 15,000sq m of commercial space, 2,000sq m of community space and car parking.
The new development is expected to be ready in four years and is forecast to generate up to AUS$200m a year for state coffers.
Lend Lease has been selected as the preferred bidder by the New South Wales Government.
