Would wind farms make good tourist attractions?
Science museums should be built alongside wind farms in a bid to make Scotland a world leader in renewables tourism, says expert Professor Cara Aitchison, who has researched the impact of wind energy developments on UK tourism.
Aitchison is urging the Scottish Government to fund collaborations between centres like Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh and green developers.
Europe's largest wind farm, Whitelee, near Glasgow, is an example of the potential success of combining the two elements. Its visitor attraction, which has interactive exhibits explaining wind energy, draws 250,000 visitors a year. It is funded by ScottishPower and run by Glasgow Science Centre.
