Wyatt Group creates immersive design for Universal's Walking Dead project
California’s Wyatt Design Group has announced its involvement with Universal’s upcoming Walking Dead attraction at its Los Angeles attraction, with the company handling set and concept design for the highly-anticipated attraction.
Opening to the public on 4 July at universal studios hollywood, Wyatt have taken charge of creating an immersive walkthrough experience of the walking dead, with the company creating something as true to the show as possible.
The experience itself will see guests follow in the footsteps of the survivors, encountering a combination of live, animatronic, and projected walkers in a completely controlled theatrical environment.
“The key goal of this unusual permanent walk-through attraction is to immerse the guest in the world of The Walking Dead – with as authentic and realistic depiction of memorable moments in the series as possible,” said Wyatt principal Larry Wyatt.
Wyatt are working alongside The Walking Dead’s executive producer and director Greg Nicotero for the project, along with his special effects company KNB Efx, who are creating various prosthetics, using original moulds from the series, to create walkers exactly as they are seen in the show. Others on the visual design team include On Track Themes for technical design and project management, lighting design by Radiance Lightworks, and facility architecture by Houston-Tyner Architects.
