Wynn Resorts doubles profit
Casino and hotel operator Wynn Resorts has more than doubled its second quarter profits, mainly thanks to a strong performance by its Macau operations.
Wynn reported profits of US$52.4m (£33.4m, €40m) for the three months to 30 June, up from $25.5m in 2009, as net revenues at Wynn Macau rocketed by 74.1 per cent.
During the period, the group opened Encore at Wynn Macau, a further expansion of Wynn Macau.
Encore includes a resort hotel with 410 luxury suites and four villas along with restaurants, additional retail space and gaming space.
At its Las Vegas resort, Wynn achieved an occupancy rate of 92.6 per cent, up from the 86.6 per cent generated in the same period in 2009.
